Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2025: Japanese Bars Ranked This Year.

The 2025 edition of Asia’s 50 Best Bars, a ranking watched closely by bar hoppers around the world, held its glamorous awards ceremony on the evening of July 15 at the integrated resort Wynn Palace in Macau. The bar that claimed the No.1 spot in Asia this year was Hong Kong’s Bar Leone.

Japan has increasingly secured places in the ranking thanks to the maturity of its bar culture and the growing number of internationally minded bartenders. As more Japanese bartenders participate — and win — in overseas cocktail competitions, a new generation has begun connecting with bartenders abroad, resulting in more bars consciously aiming for the list.

This year, six Japanese bars were ranked within the top 50:

• BAR BenFiddich (No.9 / Tokyo)

• VIRTÙ (No.18 / Tokyo)

• Yakoboku (No.25 / Kumamoto)

• Punch Room Tokyo (No.36 / Tokyo)

• LAMP BAR (No.46 / Nara)

• Bar LIBRE (No.49 / Tokyo)

In addition, GOKAN (Hong Kong) by Mr. Gokan was ranked No.33.
