Japanese whisky has entered a new era. The first generation laid the foundation for Japanese whisky, followed by the second generation — the early craft movement represented by distilleries such as Chichibu Distillery, which emerged after 2000. Then came the third generation, beginning in the late 2010s, led by a new wave of craft distilleries including Kanosuke Distillery and Shizuoka Distillery.

What distinguishes this third generation is its strong focus on terroir, distinctive production equipment, and tourism value. Established at the foot of Mount Fuji, Fugaku Distillery is attracting attention as a distillery that perfectly symbolizes this new generation.
