THE SHOCHU NAVIGATION: A Masterclass on Authentic Shochu & Awamori

With Japan’s traditional sake brewing using koji recently recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, global attention toward authentic shochu and awamori has been steadily growing.
Recently, new developments have been accelerating in the cocktail × shochu/awamori scene, with the release of honkaku shochu specifically developed for cocktails as well as bottles produced in collaboration with international creators.
Against this backdrop, the Japan Sake and Shochu Makers Association, which represents around 1,600 distilleries across Japan, organized “THE SHOCHU NAVIGATION”—a masterclass designed for bartenders and professionals working in the drinks industry.
Across the three venues, nearly 200 bartenders and bar professionals gathered for the event.
